Shocking statistics emerge on men rushing to be chopped, areas and age group with most HIV cases

Men rushing for the chop has increased according to 2016 Uganda Population HIV Impact Assessment research.

More men getting circumcised to prevent HIV. increase to 43% in 2016 survey from 26% in 2011.

Uganda Population HIV Impact Assessment results indicate that approximately 1.3 million people are living with HIV in Uganda.

Below are some of the stand out statistics released by the research.

HIV highest among men aged 45 to 49 at 14.0%. Among women highest in age group 35 - 39 and 45 - 49 at 12.9 and 12.8%.

HIV prevalence among young people 15 -24 years is 2.1%, 0.8% men and 3.3% women.

west-Nile : 3.4%
North East : 4.4%
Busoga : 4.8%
Kampala : 7.4%
Greater Masaka : 7.6% E.t.c

HIV prevalence higher among urban residents at 7.1% compared to 5.5% in rural areas.

Adult HIV prevalence higher in women at 7.5% compared to 4.3% among men.

HIV prevalence among children under the age of five and those those aged 5-14 is 0.5%

HIV prevalence among adults aged 15-49 in Uganda has dropped from 7% to 6%
