Police search Action Aid for evidence on illicit transfer of funds for unlawful activities

Police have reaveled that Court has granted them permission to search the offices of Action Aid in Kansanga, Kampala.

The force has cordoned off the Non Governmental Organisation's offices, stopped staff from leaving Wednesday after receiving go ahead from court.

According to police, the operation is intended to search offices of the country director, I.T and accounts office.

Police say they got a search warrant from Makindye Magistrates Court to obtain evidence of illicit transfer of funds for funding unlawfull activities.

Ruling NRM party agreed Wednesday to present the private members bill on article 102 which seeks to Amend age limit in Constitution barring those above 75 years from contesting for President.

Opposition groups have been threatening to block the process in Parliament. 

AAIU hosted press conference on age limits last Saturday.

Police also searched Great Lakes Institute For Strategic Studies located in Ntinda.
