Police drive Dr Besigye towards Kampala after day-long stand off in Court

Dr Kizza Besigye has been driven to Kampala after five hours of stand off with police in Rukunjiri after court granted him bail.

Dr. Besigye and two of his polictical aides; Patrick Amuriat and Ingrid Turinawe were driven to Rukunjiri for the bail application hearing after staying behind cells for a week.

The FDC leader was arrested following the bloody clash with police in Rukunjiri during a rally organised to sensitize masses on the ongoing age limit debate.

Dr. Besigye was released Wednesday morning but was not allowed to leave court by security.

The former Presidential candidate's aide Moses Byaruhanga has been following the proceedings in Rukunjiri.

Byamugisha revealed to this website that Dr. Besigye was picked from the mobile cell he was kept in and driven towards Kampala.

He revealed: "Five police pick up track convoy has just passed Kebisoni trading centre Rukungiri heading in the direction of Kampala."

Byamugisha said said tried to resist security from driving away with Dr. Besigye but were overpowered.

He said: "Live bullets and teargas continue as police struggles to disperse the enthusiastic youths. It's getting dark."
