POA claims FDC Presidency but what disadvantaged Gen. Muntu

  • Amuriat defeated Gen. Muntu in FDC President elections

Patrick Oboi Amuriat dismissed Gen. Mugisha Muntu in an election party critics say was heavily decided by former party founder Dr. Kizza Besigye.

Engineer Amuriat was the only candidate among Gen. Muntu, Dan Matsiko and Moses Byamugisha who benefited from the efforts of Dr. Besigye who traversed together the better part of the country.

The new FDC President popularly known as POA polled 57% to Gen. Muntu's 41%, raising eye brows within the party faithful who claim Dr. Besigye should have stayed out of the campaigns.

Gen. Muntu had so much to explain the campaigns as many of his critics lebeled him a mole and failed to take the party to the grassroots.

Statistics he tried to bring out in the campaigns were branded as cooked up since the party returned fewer MPs than the previous editions.

Some elements claim Gen. Muntu shouldn't have pointed fingers at Dr. Besigye when presented with an opportunity to address delegates at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
