The Deejaying industry in Uganda is fast-growing, given the advancement of technology and high unemployment rates.

Singer Bebe Cool, an undoubted legend in the Ugandan Music Industry, said DJs ought to be accorded more financial respect for the good they do for the art.

“Anyone that says DJs should not be paid is the most selfish human being I have ever seen. Don’t DJs have families? Why do you want to earn 5 million and give them 50 thousand shillings only?”

Bebe rhetorically posed a question. “In countries like the USA, some DJs are even bigger than singers. Look at DJ Khaled. He can put up a one-man show and flood Miami Beach. Actually, even here in Uganda DJ events are more enjoyable than some musicians’ shows.” He lamented.

On the contrary, Cindy thinks DJs should not be paid to play music since it will kill the industry, “DJs should play a song because it is nice, not because they got paid to play it. DJs are starting to play bad music just because they are being paid. That should stop.”

Regardless of the unapologetic exchange between the two Dancehall icons, Cindy still maintains that she holds no beef with the bearded rasta.
