As many Ugandan artists dream of their music crossing borders, others have taken a lion’s share of the amount of hits that play on radio, bars and clubs in neighboring Kenya.

According to celebrated Kenyan legend, Nameless of ‘Nasinzia’ fame, some of the big names in our entertainment industry have penetrated through the Kenyatta land and are competing favorably with native artists.

Nameless, who appeared on Evening Rush Reloaded program on Galaxy FM 100.2, named the artistes whose music enjoys the most airplay and club time in Nairobi, Kenya.

Pallaso:

Not kidding! According to Nameless, Pallaso’s ziki is competing greatly in Kenya. Never doubt Pallaso’s hustle, he is never riding on his elder brother, Chamili’s name for music survival. He managed to scoop a collabo with one of Kenya’s hottest songstresses, Vivian. Their song, ‘Always on my mind’ is one of the biggest songs in Kenya.

Sheebah:

For the past four years, Sheebah has been on top of her game dropping massive jams which have made her a house hold name not only in UG but beyond borders. Yes, she might not have staged any concert in Kenya but her songs have gained massive airplay in the Kenyatta land. Her song John Rambo is played massively on radio and Television channels. Eddy Kenzo:

The Big Talent boss may not be appreciated here as he may wish but truly he is a big deal outside UG! He scoops international awards every year more than any other artist here. Leave alone the BET Award but his most recent AFRIMMA Best male artist in the region, has a story to tell. Yes, it could be by sheer luck as many music critics say but nonetheless, Kenzo’s ziki is played not only in Kenya but the whole continent and beyond.

Bebe Cool:

Just like Chamili, Bebe also kick-started his music career in Kenya notably with Ogapa DJs two decades back. Bebe’s career had a slow start compared to that of Chamili but through hard work, self-belief and persistence, he managed to break the chains. ‘Fire Anthem’ a collabo he did while in the East African Bashment Crew, introduced him to the Kenyan market and ever since Bebe has not turned back. Recently, he teamed up with Sauti Sol and did ‘Mbozi za’malwa’ which helped him consolidate his musical presence. Songs like ‘Love you every day’ and ‘Kabulangane’ are still hitting Kenya’s airwaves.

Jose Chamili:

No doubt for the years he’s been in the game mingling and mixing his hits with Swahili, English and Luganda, Chamili can never miss out on any body’s list. Owing to the fact that he started his professional music career in Kenya, his name does not need introduction. His Swahili timeless hits like Jamila, Valu Valu, Shida za dunia and Badilisha among others have made him a darling to Kenyans.
