Given this digital era that we live in, platforms like YouTube are benchmarks for establishing the most trendy and popular brands. Tanzanian sensational vocalist and dancer Diamond Platnumz has set a record, as the first ever artist from Sub-Saharan Africa to reach one million YouTube subscribers.
For a fact, Tanzania is one of the African countries with the most affordable Internet, and also it has a population of 55.57 million people. One would still wonder why Nigerian acts like Davido and Wizkid, who got a greater share of fame before Diamond, aren’t anything close to his achievement yet they have 186 million people to watch their videos in their populous country Nigeria – Davido has 426k and Wizkid 314k subscribers.
Diamond Platnumz rose to fame with his hit song Kamwambie, which opened doors for him to release other masterpieces like Nitarejea, Mbagala among others. He got introduced to the international scene by the remix to his song “Number One” which featured Davido, and the rest as they say, is history.
From signing a deal with Universal Records; to going six times platinum on his Marry You song featuring Neyo, to launching a successful album “A Boy From Tandale” which features Rick Ross, P Square and Morgan Heritage; to opening his own brand of Perfume, Snacks, TV and Radio stations under WCB Wasafi; we believe that Naseeb Abdul Juma, our Muko – take a seat Zari Hassan – is not about to stop winning. We wish you all the best, Chibu Dangote.
