They revealed this during the fisheries day celebration held at the Kiyindi Landing site in Buikwe on Thursday.
Under their Umbrella Kiyindi, Women Fish traders and Processors’ Association comprising of 40 women and 20 men say they are now struggling to find market for silverfish which is in plenty.
Peruth Logose the Association Chairperson notes that at Kiyindi the major market was Rwanda which they have since lost after the border closure.
She says currently the price of a basin of silverfish is sold at shillings 25, 000 reducing from between 40, 000 to 50, 000 shillings last year.
Meanwhile, Stella Mbabazi a Fisheries Inspector from the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries-MAAIF says they are trying to coordinate with various private partners and also develop various technologies to ensure more market.
