National Council of Sports has named Uganda Athletics Federation as best member association of the year 2019.
This was during the National Council of Sports end of year dinner held at Hockey grounds, Lugogo at a function that was attended by outgoing state minister for sports Charles Bakkabulindi, Commissioner of Physical Education, Omara Apita, UOC president William Blick, NCS General Secretary Dr. Patrick Bernard Ogwel and federation presidents in the country.
Uganda Athletics Federation President Dominic Otuchet thanked National Council of Sports for the support and hailed athletes Joshua Cheptegei and Halimah Nakaayi for tremendously excelling in this year’s International Association of Athletics Federations Championship (IAAF).
“Uganda is now known around the world that we are great at athletics. We are looking forward to performing in next year’s olympic games and other championships” Otuchet stated.
This year, Cheptegei won gold at the IAAF championship in the 10,000m held in Doha and came out on top in the world country which took place in Aarhus, Denmark.
Nakaayi is the 800m world championship following a remarkable performance at the world championship in Doha.
Last year, Federation of UGanda Football Association was named the best run federation in the country.
