A wave of amazement swept through the army court in Makindye , this morning when Abdalla Kitatta, the Boda boda 2010 patron denounced being a leader or member of the notorious group.

Testifying as his own witness, Kitatta said he is not responsible for any actions of Boda boda 2010 and and neither is he responsible for their ill deeds.

He said that he should never be asked about operations of the notorious group, explaining that his only position was the chairman of the National Union of Drivers, Cyclists and Allied Workers.

He stressed that for anything regarding boda boda 2010, they should ask Joel Kibirige, the chairman for boda boda riders in Lubaga division.

When asked on military equipment found in the boda boda 2010 offices at Wakaliga, Kitatta said he is not liable for anything because he holds no position in the group and that he has never held a gun, live bullets or even possessed any military uniform in the 40 years of his life.

The Case was then adjourned to 21st January 2019.

Kitatta is accused together with nine other members of boda boda 2010 of various charges including unlawful possession of fire arms and military stores.

Meanwhile, Former Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura has today reported before the General Court Martial in  Makindye, in fulfillment of his bail conditions.

Gen. Kayihura was ordered by the Court’s  Chairman Lt. Gen Andrew Gutti to report to Court, every first Monday of the month for purposes of extending  his  bail  granted to him in August last year after facing charges of failure to protect war materials, and aiding the  kidnap and illegal  repatriation of Rwandans.

Lt Gen. Gutti asked him to report back on 4th/February since his case is not yet cause listed for trial due to pending investigations.

The General faces charges of failure to protect war materials by issuing arms to unauthorised persons including Boda Boda 2010 Members led by Abdullah Kitatta between 2010 and 2018.

While the kidnap and illegal repatriation of Rwandans was committed between 2012 and 2016, he has since denied the allegation and his movements were restricted to Kampala and Wakiso, unless permitted by Court.
