Lukwago Apologizes To KCCA

KCCA football captain Charles Lukwago has come out to express his sincere apologies on the silly incident that he made at MTN Omondi stadium in Lugogo when KCCA FC hosted Express Fc in Stanbic Uganda Cup where the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

With KCCA leading 1-0 in the second leg of their quarter final against Express FC, Lukwago elbowed Charles Musiige in the area, after catching a routine cross, prompting referee Ali Kaddu to award a penalty to the visitors.

Martin Kizza took responsibility and took the penalty-kick, sending KCCA crushing out of the competition on away goals after the first leg had ended 0-0 at Wankulukuku.

Many fans and football stakeholders took to social media to condemn Lukwago’s behaviour.

With the season already concluded, Lukwago who is currently with the Uganda Kobs in Saudi Arabia has finally responded and apologised for his actions.

“It is with heartfelt feelings that I write to you our beloved fans and all stakeholders for the first time in a very long time. However, it comes following the sad events of 4th June 2021 at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo. I am here to apologize to you all for the heart-breaking mistake I made in our Uganda cup quarterfinal match against Express FC on that dark day.

It was not only a mistake against our old rival but also one that got us to miss the semi-finals of the competition. I understand we were in control and were only minutes away from progressing to the last four. As captain of this mighty club, it was my duty to ensure progress but not let my team and you the fans down. I am entirely sorry for the pain I have caused you since. As long as I am still at the books of KCCA, I will serve and work my lungs out to restore this club’s pride and bring back the smile on all your faces.

I assure you I will do my very best from now onwards. Lastly, our dear fans please take care of yourselves and your families in these trying times of the COVID-19 pandemic. May God protect you all.”

It should be remembered that the current captain Charles Lukwago replaced Timothy Denis Awany who went to FC Ashdod in Israel.
