AIGP Asan Kasingye the chief political commissar has revealed that the Police will focus on crime patterns and new security measures during this year’s council meeting.

According to Kasingye, the police council meeting will be held under the theme ”Strengthening Our Achievements and Finding to Policing Challenges to guarantee Safety”

The last time the police council convened was in February 2018 during the reign of then IGP Gen Kale Kayihura at Police Marine Base at Kigo, in Wakiso District.

The police council meeting is the 25th of its kind and it brings all police directors, heads of specialized units and territorial police commanders.

The council’s major roles include deliberating matters related to the police force and its personnel, issues arising out of police officers’ unprofessionalism or misconduct, observance of human rights.

Kasingye while addressing the media on Monday says police is expected to discuss reviews and policies for the force, Human rights, New security measures ahead of the festive season, Achievements and challenges within the police force,  and the Road Map to 2021 general elections among others.

He also acknowledged that according to Uganda police reports, crime has registered a deep in the Kampala Metropolitan areas which he mostly attributed to recent security operations and the council looks forward to exploring means of extending this reduction across the country.

The Inspector-General of Police Okoth Martin Ochola has revealed that there is a need for strengthening the achievements of the police as well as finding the lasting solutions to the policing challenges in order to guarantee the security of the public.

IGP Okoth Ochola revealed this while opening the two-day police council meeting which has convened at Police headquarters Naguru.
