Dr. Kizza Besigye was forced to call off his news conference on the collapse of Gen. Kale Kayihura at Katonga Road after his party FDC had planned a similar statement to unleash at Najjanankumbi in Kampala.

President Yoweri Museveni shocked the nation on Sunday night by firing Gen. Kayihura and Gen. Henry Tumukunde and replacing them with Okoth Ochola and Gen. Elly Tumwine.

FDC and Dr. Besigye sent messages to the media about new conferences planned for morning at the venues of Najjanankumbi and Katonga, respectively.

The FDC group who turned up for the news conference included the party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat, Salam Musumba and Joyce Ssebugwawo.

While Dr. Besigye clad in white shirt and red tie had a couple of his close friends with him at Katonga. Muhammad Munyagwa and Erias Lukwago among others were expected to address the scribes.

However, Dr. Besigye allowed scribes to converge at Katonga Road. In his statement, he told scribes his news conference on Gen. Kayihura would be issued out at an appropriate time in the near future.

He told media that his party at Najjanankumbi were having a news conference with similar content and therefore it would be unfair for him to go ahead.
