The opposition has challenged President Yoweri Museveni to use today’s independence celebrations to tell Ugandans his exit plans.
The Democratic Party secretary general, Gerald Siranda, claims there is nothing to celebrate about Uganda and the independence it attained 56 years ago.
He argues that Ugandans have nothing to celebrate as most of them are living in abject poverty and mothers and children are dying at birth as cases of torture are also sky rocketing.
The leader of opposition in parliament, Betty Aol Ocan has called upon the youth not to be carried away by what she terms as ‘’patronage money’’ by president Museveni.
Aol was this morning speaking during the ‘Independence prayer’ event , organized by FDC, held at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi.
Celebrations to mark Uganda’s 56th independence anniversary are underway at Kasasa grounds in Kyotera district under the theme: “Standing Tall to Celebrate 56 Years of Independence”.
A number of dignitaries are already in attendance, with President Museveni the chief guest.
