President Yoweri Museveni rushed to the rescue of several families in Lusanja, Kasangati who were facing eviction.

President Museveni traveled to Lusanja along with the land probe team led by Catherine Bamugemereirwe after reports of demolition by businessman Medard Kiconco were awash on live TV.

The President ordered for immediate stop to the demolition activities that were going on in the area where 35 houses had been brought down by caterpillars.

President Museveni promised the residents of compensation.

The head of state said: “If the courts of law ascertain that your property was illegally destroyed, government will compensate you.”

President Museveni revealed: “In the meantime, I am going to work with the office of the Prime Minister to ensure you get some aid (shelter and food).”
