Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has taken Miss World Africa, Quinn Abenakyo to motivate girls in Kamuli to stay at school.
Kadaga told the students of Kamuli girl’s college school to emulate Abenakyo, whom she said was once in Secondary and worked hard until she got a university degree.
“Even during her campaign in the beauty contest, Abenakyo encouraged the girl child to study and that is why I have brought her to inspire you,” said Kadaga.
She made the remarks in Kamuli Girls College School on 5 February, 2019.
In response to a request by the school’s request for a bus to ease transport, Kadaga pledged to provide the bus.
Abenakyo asked parents to endeavour to educate the girl child.
“These are the future leaders. Who knows the next Speaker of Parliament or Miss world will come from Kamuli,” said Abenakyo.
She however cautioned students against joining notorious groups, saying such actions only deter them from achieving their dreams.
“When we come to school, we tend to form groups which are not good. Let us stay away from such behaviour,” said Abenakyo.
The students applauded Abenakyo for being a role model.
Gloria Nakawala, who spoke on behalf of the students said they are proud that Abenakyo has set a good example for all the girls.
“We are going to study hard and emulate you,” said Nakawala
