Government has asked the Chief Executive Officer MTN Uganda, Wim Van Helleputte Thursday evening to leave the country after deeming him ‘a prohibited immigrant’ in a letter seen by Galaxy FM Zzina and published below.
According to a letter signed by Internal Affairs Minister Gen Jeje Odongo, Vanhelleputte has been ordered to leave the country immediately.
The letter state in part: “Vim Van Helleputte has been deemed an undesirable immigrant by virtue of section 52 (g) of the Uganda citizenship and immigration control act. And whereas by virtue of the said deeming, the said Vim Van Helleputte has become a prohibited immigrant.”
Van Helleputte’s sudden departure follows the arrest and deportation of Elsa Mussolini, the MTN mobile money general manager and Annie Tabura, the general manager sales and distribution.
