Major General Matayo Kyaligonza has scoffed at his critics after the Sunday morning incidence where his body guards descended on a traffic police officer and allegedly assaulted her for trying to stop him.

The traffic officer Sergeant Esther Namaganda stopped Major General Kyaligonza who is Uganda’s Ambassador to Burundi at Seeta in Mukono when his driver made a U-turn on the road.

Scuffle ensued leading to the body guards Lance Corporal Peter Bushindiki and Private Okurut John Robert exchanging words which blew up into a battle of neck and neck pulling.

Onlookers captured the scuffle on their phones and shared on social media leading to anger among users. Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga led hundreds in condemning the act and asked the culprits be brought to book.

However, in an interview with the New Vision, Ambassador Kyaligonza charged at those pointing fingers at him by reminding them:

“Now everybody is talking about Kyaligonza, what have I done? When will I ever have a fair story written about me?”

Adding: “You must not forget that i contributed to the peace you are enjoying in the country, yet you ridicule me.”
