JUAN MATA – £37.1M
A helicopter was sent to pick up Mata as he was seen as the first major signing of Manchester United’s new era. The Spaniard, who has scored 45 goals for the club since joining in January 2014, has been in and out of Manchester United’s first team during his five-year spell at Old Trafford and he looks set to leave on a free transfer this summer. ANDER HERRERA – £29M
United had been long-time admirers of Herrera but had failed to previously get a deal to sign the midfielder over the line. Nobody can ever question his commitment to the club as he always gives 100 per cent when he puts on the United colours. The England international has had a tough ride at Old Trafford with both Van Gaal and Mourinho publicly stating their frustrations with the former Southampton full back. MARCOS ROJO – £16M
Rojo has spent more time on the treatment table than he has on the Old Trafford pitch. Signed on the back of a successful 2014 World Cup with Argentina, Rojo has failed to deliver and should be shipped out as soon as possible. MISS
ANGEL DI MARIA – £60M
Big things were expected of Di Maria when Manchester United broke the British transfer record to sign the Argentine from Real Madrid. He produced a few pieces of magic but failed to settle in England and was sold to Paris Saint-Germain after just one season. MISS
DALEY BLIND – £14M
Blind is one of those players who you don’t appreciate until he’s gone. The versatile Dutchman was able to play at centre back, left back and as a defensive midfielder. He’s now hoping to lead Ajax to the Champions League final. AVERAGE
RADAMEL FALCAO – £6M LOAN FEE
Falcao arrived in England with a reputation of being one of the world’s deadliest strikers having scored goals for fun at Porto, Atletico Madrid and Monaco. United’s decision to splash out £6m turned out to be a complete waste of money and then rivals Chelsea made the same mistake. MISS
VICTOR VALDES – FREE
The former Barcelona goalkeeper joined United to deputise for David de Gea. He made a handful of appearances before an argument with Van Gaal led to him being loaned out to Standard Liege. MISS
MEMPHIS DEPAY – £25M
Having worked with Van Gaal during their time together with the Holland national team, United fans thought Depay was going to hit the ground running at Old Trafford. However, his relationship with Van Gaal quickly turned sour and he was sold to Lyon. United have a buy-back option on the Lyon star who appears to be getting back to his best in France. MISS

MATTEO DARMIAN – £12.7M
The Italian was given the man-of-the-match award on his first competitive Manchester United match against Tottenham but he hasn’t done much since. Another player who will head through the Old Trafford exit door this summer. MISS

Schneiderlin was supposed to form a new midfield partnership with Bastian Schweinsteiger but they were both as bad as each other. Manchester United proved to be one step too much for the Frenchman. MISS
BASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER – £7M
Few clubs would turn down the chance to sign Schweinsteiger for just £7m but you can now see why Bayern Munich were keen on losing one of their star assets for a relatively small fee. He could not deal with the pace of the Premier League and spent a few months following his wife and former tennis star Ana Ivanovic around when he was injured. MISS

SERGIO ROMERO – FREE
Manchester United are lucky to have Argentina’s No 1 as their deputy goalkeeper. He has hardly put a foot wrong when he has replaced De Gea in-between the sticks and United did not pay a penny for him. HIT
ANTHONY MARTIAL – £36M INITIAL FEE
Martial plays like Cristiano Ronaldo one minute and Bebe the next. His inconsistency sums up Manchester United post-Ferguson. He was playing in fifth gear when he was pushing for a new contract but has now gone down to first. Next season will be make or break. AVERAGE

A world-class player who actually managed to live up to the hype at Manchester United. Ibrahimovic wanted to conquer the Premier League but his team-mates weren’t up for the challenge. He did lead the club to Europa League and League Cup glory before leaving for the MLS. HIT
HENRIKH MKHITARYAN – £27M
United fans would have been licking their lips when they typed in Mkhitaryan’s name on YouTube after signing the Armenian. The £27m signing had been one of the Bundesliga’s standout players but he has struggled in England with United and now Arsenal.MISS
PAUL POGBA – £89M
When you pay £89m for a player you expect him to perform at a high level on a regular basis and Pogba simply hasn’t done that. His attitude has been questioned from all angles and he now appears to be pining for a move to Real Madrid. MISS

United supporters wrote Lindelof off after his first season at Old Trafford but the Swede seems to have been buoyed by a successful World Cup campaign. He’s now United’s first-choice centre back and will look to kick on again next season. HIT

Lukaku’s failure to perform in the big games — with a few exceptions — has seen fans lose patience with the former Everton man. His goal tally is not as good as last season and he could be another player who is allowed to leave come the end of the season. AVERAGE

Chelsea supporters questioned why they allowed one of their star midfielders to join rivals Manchester United in the summer of 2017. He started off well but the club are now scouring the market for a potential replacement for the Serbian. AVERAGE
ALEXIS SANCHEZ – SWAP DEAL
He looks set to go down in history as the worst pound-for-pound signing in Manchester United’s history. His £400,000-a-week wage has caused problems in the dressing room and Solskjaer may struggle to shift him in the coming months. MISS
