MP Odonga Otto is involved in a stormy battle with Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Salim Jamal after accusing him and four others of masterminding the ongoing strike over match allowances in Cairo.
Uganda Cranes stars laid down their tools forcing the coaching staff led by Sebastien Desabre to call off training ahead of the tense round of 16 fixture against Senegal on Friday.
Otto took to his Twitter account to expose the five players who included Jajja Walu, Nicholas Wadada, Allan Katerega and Jamal.
The Aruu MP tweeted: “Here in Cairo Strike in Cranes camp is about 5 players mobilising others to demand for more than what was agreed. This is typical Ugandan behaviour of thinking the country owes them and not the reverse.ITS UP TO FUFA AND GOU TO TAKE A STAND ON BLACKMAIL..Friday is just here.”
He went on: “Cranes got bonuses of 1m Usd from M7 on qualifying for AFCON additional 3000 USD was given to each outside the FUFA contract.Wadada,Walusimbi, allan, kateraga and Jamil please save your image and that of UG.Patriotism is not just for soldiers. Its now about Uganda not individuals.”
Jamal did not take the legislator’s accusations lightly. He took to Twitter as well to fight back.
