CRISTIANO RONALDO has launched an appeal to find a mystery McDonald’s worker named Edna who kindly gave him burgers the star used to beg for.
The 34-year-old Juventus striker joined Piers Morgan for an in-depth interview that was aired on ITV last night.
It was the most-revealing one of the Manchester United and Real Madrid legend’s illustrious career by far as he discussed all aspects of his journey from a humble childhood in Madeira to a £86.5m-a-year footballing god.
One of the revelations he made was that he used to beg for burgers as a kid at Sporting Lisbon.
And now he is hoping to track down those who helped him during his time of need.
In a dramatic twist after the show aired, Morgan hinted that the pair may soon be reunited.
He tweeted on Wednesday afternoon: “UPDATE: We may have found Edna…”
In the interview, Ronaldo had said: “We were a little hungry. We have a McDonald’s next to the stadium, we knocked on the door and asked if they had any burgers.
“There was always Edna and two other girls. I never found them again.”
Ronaldo says the McDonald’s restaurant is now closed.
But he desperately wants to find Edna to “give something back” after her kind acts.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner said: “I asked people in Portugal, they closed the McDonald’s, but if this interview can help find them, I would be so happy.
“I want to invite them to Turin or Lisbon to come have dinner with me because I want to give something back.”
