Kampala and national champion Bwanika Mansoor reminded us of his might, as he powered through 127 other men, to lift the Kampala open title for a second time.

The national champion overcame Capital Night team captain Mustapha Bwire 7-4 in the final. Only two of the top four men’s seeds could make it to the last eight.

Top player Amos Ndyagumanawe survived the wrath of Fort Portal based Ivan Murungi 6-5 in the last eight, but Amos was shocked by Mustapha in a very close semi-final.

On the opposite end of the chart, Bwanika overcame Bruce Abahairwe in the last 16, and set the stage for a mouth-watering quarter final with Ssewankambo Fahad, which Bwanika narrowly edged 6-5 after coming from 5-1 down.

He also had to dig deep in the semi final to defeat Ssewali Ibra, who had faced Mustafa, the result was never going to be in doubt, much as his opponent had been running a good show, especially against Amos.
