Speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga has on Tuesday Afternoon honored a pledge and handed a dummy cheque worth UGX 114,250,000 to the triplets Ghetto kids.
This follows a plea to parliament through the speaker by the dance group in November last year for support in the clearance of a Shs 100 million debt on a house they were purchasing and support for the group.
In December 2019 MPs unanimously pledged to each contribute shs250,000 towards this cause, and that’s how the above figure was reached.
According to the clerk to parliament, Shs 100million will clear cover a debt that the youngsters have over the house located along Salaama road and the remaining shs14.25 million will go towards supporting them in school and performances.
The house in question is said to have been owned by one Ssekatawa who sold it to the Ghetto kids at the cost of shs100m.
Handing over the cheque today, Kadaga appreciated MPs for the good work done at a short notice towards this noble cause.
She asked the Clerk to Parliament to speed up the transfer of property from the name of the current property owner to the dance group.
Speaking on behalf of the Ghetto kids, Patricia Nabakoza appreciated the speaker and the parliament at large who jointly contributed to this initiative thus promising to continue lifting the flag of Uganda higher in other countries through their dancing talents.
