Former champions UMU will be looking to get their campaign back on track when they host two time champions Kampala University for match day two of group C of the Pepsi University Football League.
Both teams were surprising losers on match day one with Uganda Martyrs losing 1-0 away to Busitema University and Kampala University loosing 2-1 away to IUEA. This has seen the two former champions in unfamiliar territory at the bottom of the table.
However, Uganda Martyrs coach Ssenyondo Brian says it is too early to panic.
“We have played only one game so it is too early to panic about being at the bottom of the table, we still have five games to go and i expect good results in those games. The first game was a wake-up call so i expect that the boys will be even more serious and focused going forward,” Ssenyondo said.
Kampala University have a perfect record against Uganda Martyrs winning all their encounters with the last meeting being in 2016.
However Kampala University coach Tumusiime Vincent says Uganda Martyrs has improved since then and it is not an automatic win for his side.
“It is true we have always beaten Uganda Martyrs but it has always been a close game. Uganda Martyrs have greatly improved since then and we can not take the game for granted. The boys have to be very alert and fovussed for the entire 90 minutes of the game if we are to come away with a result.” Tumusiime said.
