Senior Press Secretary to H.E. President Museveni, Don Wanyama has just announced that the president will officially address his Bazukulu on Tuesday the 14th April 2020 at Midday.
This follows reports of the 14-day lockdown playing its last day on Monday 13th April 2020.
On March the 30th of March 2020, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni issued a 14-day ban on all movements including people and private cars across the country to curb the spread of the COVID 19 pandemic.
“This ban on the movement of private vehicles takes effect 10 p.m on Monday, March 30 night”
The president said the new measures would take effect on April 1, 2020, adding that it was not a “fool’s day measure” but rather “a wise day” measure.
Museveni also announced the 14-day curfew would begin at 7 p.m on Tuesday, March 31.
The president also announced a shutdown of most private and government services, except for the army, police, health services and essential services.
In a tweet this afternoon Wanyama wrote ;
Just to guide, the current lockdown runs until tomorrow (Tuesday) midnight. Some people hadn’t gotten this clearly. You’ll, therefore, wait for @KagutaMuseveni to guide on way forward tomorrow at midday.
This also comes after a fake Twitter account in the name of president Museveni indicated that another 21 days have been added to the initial lockdown and would take effect on Tuesday 14th April 2020.
However, Wanyama was quick to trash the tweet as fake news urging the public to await a legit communication from the relevant channels.
Good people. This is fake. The President has not made any such pronouncement. Communication on status of lockdown will be made using known official channels
