Uganda has since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country registered 56 cases and zero deaths.
The country registered its first case on 26th March, a Ugandan of 27 years old. He had travelled to Dubai on a business trip.
The ministry of health believes the unified attention by the public towards the fight against Covid-19 has been helpful to the country.
While confirming the country’s 56th case, the permanent secretary ministry of health Dr. Diana Atwine hailed citizens for being responsive.
Dr. Diana revealed that the public was crucial in bringing forward the patient, a 46, year old, Burundi refugee who arrived from Tanzania.
She said he was quarantined in Rakai. Dr. Diana revealed that the Burundian was among 1,777 tested on Monday.
She said: “Community awareness is the biggest tool to defeat Covid 19 disease. We would not have known this patient but the community made alarm when he returned in the country. He was then isolated and tested.”
