Over the weekend, singer Bobi Wine held one of the best online shows Ugandan music fans have ever witnessed.
The People Power honcho who had taken 2 years with out entertaining his loyal fans left many wowed as he proved his doubters wrong.
Bobi’s show was not necessarily a Covid-19 lockdown show but it was hinged on the Mothers’ Day celebration that was on the same day.
Aptly dubbed ‘Ensasage Mu Nyumba’, Luganda for chaos in the house, we started with a shot of his swanky crib with Nubian Li his friend and singing partner outside, then Bobi Wine walks out and takes a seat just next to his friend and the stage was set.
He wasn’t performing in-front of a random camera as it is usually with these things, he was living this moment. It was a production, the cinematography – from the aerial views, safely timed shots of girls at the fireplace with a bow harp soundtrack, then the lighting that played well with the white walls of his Magere palace. What an epic show that was!
However, some people partly think Badman from Kamwokya and his musical team managed to pull it off because the show was pre-recorded.
Renown city events mogul, Balaam Barugahara was the first to come out publicly to claim that the show had been recorded a day before. “..i thank Bobi and his team to put up a remarkable show for us. But everything was on point because the show was recorded”, Balaam said.
Now another renown and experienced music analyst, Selector Williams also thinks all the perfections were partly achieved because the production team headed by talented guitarist Myco Ouma and veteran audio producer Paddy Man took time to fine-tune the show before.
Williams argues that it reached at some point and he could tell that the show was pre-recorded.
