KAMPALA: Top police chief is among 97 Covid-19 cases confirmed last night by the ministry of health.
Asani Kasingye chief political commissar of Uganda Police Force Sunday afternoon took to his Twitter account to confirm he has tested positive of Covid-19.
Kasingye tweeted: “BAD NEW!! I’AM #COVID19 POSITIVE.”
The police chief was among 97 new Covid-19 cases confirmed by the ministry of health in the country with Kampala registering 57. President Yoweri Museveni will address the nation on Tuesday amidst the recent spike in cases.
Uganda registered the highest number of Covid-19 on Friday with 354 new cases.
The ministry posted on their official Twitter handle: “Results from COVID-19 tests done on 22 August 2020. 97 new COVID-19 cases confirmed today. The cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans is now 2,263.”
There was a a case from a returnee from Mali confirmed by the ministry.
