Ever since the arrest and incarceration of singer and presidential candidate, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine, Ugandans and ghetto yuts across the country have hit the streets, protesting and demanding for his immediate release.
Kampala city downtown and surrounding ghettos were full of dark smoke resulting from burning tire. Musicians and comedians took to their social media pages to show solidarity to their fellow artist Bobi who by press time still under detention at Nalufenya Police station.
Notably music legend and Lord Mayorship, Joseph Mayanja posted on his wall;
“I and the people of Uganda condemn police violence against Presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Sentamu | Bobi Wine in the very strongest terms.
If we are a free and democratic Uganda let that be true in example. I also want to sound out to our electoral Commission to let nominated Presidential and Following candidates exercise our freedom and rights fully!!!! We are very aware of the SOPS. But our people are very vigilant about change and Police violence and Brutality is not the way. Can’t we dialogue??? People’s power is mightier than what you ever seen. Despite how peaceful we are, you are testing our patience.
You are the change you want, Freedom is coming.”
Chameleone has now gone ahead to halt his mayorship campaigns till Bobi Wine is set free.
“We have suspended our Lord Mayoral Campaigns in solidarity with our Presidential candidate. Election is a very delicate moment, it defines our history. Our generation must not take election mismanagement lightly. Everyone must stand for Hon Kyagulanyi and all paining Ugandans’ rights for the future of this country.
We call for freedom and release of Hon Kyagulanyi.”, his post reads.
