The NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi spent a night in the cold bedbug-infested cells of Nalufenya despite a bloody and spirited campaign countrywide for his release.

Violent Protests broke out on Wednesday afternoon in downtown -Kampala and were countered by readily armed security that deployed there shooting many dead and injuring the majority.

It was not long before different parts of Kampala city and the country erupted in vicious riots, burning tyres on the roads, blocking them with heavy stones and garbage in addition to stoning security guys.

It was all in an effort to pass a message of Freeing Bobi wine.

Day 2, on Thursday, Police still have Bobi locked up, there is heavy deployment of the army and police in Jinja City to counter Kyagulanyi protests.

Relentless NUP supporters have stormed the streets in Jinja again,  lighting old tyres along the Jinja-Kamuli highway prompting security deployment.

Some of the supporters have decided camp in the middle of the road that leads to Nalufenya Police Station.

NUP leaders led by Secretary-General Lewis Rubongoya, his lawyer Anthony Wameli, Joel Senyonyi the spokesperson, among others have been denied access to Kyagulanyi however they have pitched camp outside waiting for an opportunity to see Bobi.

Journalists have also been pushed 200 meters away from Nalufenya because they were reportedly interfering with police investigations.

Joel Senyonyi says they will wait there until they can have access to their candidate.

”The stand-off continues at Nalufenya. Since yesterday, police and the army have denied us access to our Presidential candidate, saying they await orders. There’s no word about whether or not he’ll be taken to court, and we don’t know the state in which he is. We’ll however keep here till they give us information.”He said on his Facebook account
