The Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago was suspiciously flown to the AghaKhan hospital in Nairobi via Uganda airlines on Tuesday.

Members within his inner circles said it was nothing to worry about because his condition was not critical as portrayed in the media.

They claimed that Lukwago was recommended to seek further treatment by doctors at Rubaga hospital after he was found to have respiratory and general body weakness symptoms resulting from allergies.

This led people to believe that he had contracted COVID-19.

However, new details of his condition have been revealed by the deputy lord mayor Doreen Nyanjura.

In a statement released this afternoon, Nyanjura states that Lukwago indeed has been diagnosed with Anaphylaxis.

Anaphylaxis is a serious, allergic reaction.

The most common anaphylactic reactions are to foods, insect stings, medications, and latex. If you are allergic to a substance, your immune system overreacts to this allergen by releasing chemicals that cause allergy symptoms.

Below is her statement.

RE: STATEMENT ON THE HEALTH OF THE LORD MAYOR ERIAS LUKWAGO.

The Lord Mayor was diagnosed with acute anaphylaxis which became persistent on treatment.

While he is not in a critical condition, doctors found it advisable to conduct further examinations and management.

Following this advice, the Lord Mayor departed yesterday for Nairobi where he arrived safely and has since commenced the necessary medical procedures.

The Office of the Lord Mayor appreciates the overwhelming concerns and sympathies. We hope for his quick recovery and return to Kampala.

Yours in Service, Nyanjura Doreen

DEPUTY LORD MAYOR
