Irate locals have dragged to police an arrogant NRM LC1 of a village in Katwe for constantly frauding them in land transactions.
Henry Mubiru, the LC1 of Salaama –Kulekana village is accused of conning locals in millions of shillings in fake land sale deals.
Mubiru was grabbed from his residence like a chicken thief and dragged to the police station.
Mubiru deals by selling off the land which either doesn’t exist or has been already purchased to people and once a case is filed against him at the local police station, he is detained only for hours before going Scott free.
The situation has played out 10 times with different clients dragging the NRM local leader to police stations in vain.
The sufferers accuse Mubiru of boasting as untouchable because he is an NRM member.
However, Patrick Onyango, the Kampala metropolitan police mouthpiece says Police has confirmed that Mubiru has 10 cases related to land fraud being handled by Kampala South Regional Criminal Investigations Department.
He says Mubiru has even been charged in the courts of law on one of the cases but must be out on bail.
“We have about 10 files at Katwe and other files are with Regional CID Kampala Metropolitan Police South that is Katwe,” Onyango said. “We took him to court on one of the files last week and he was remanded. We have another file which has been sanctioned and we shall wait for him at court when he is given bail then we arrest him and produce him to court again.”
