NUP Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi wants the Electoral Commission Chief to either take full control of the electoral process or resign.

Bobi told the media on Wednesday afternoon that he assured Justice Simon Byabakama to walk out if he can’t control the violent actions of the police and military.

“We asked them to take charge of the election or resign. We asked them to prevail over the security and to tell them to get the military out of the election. We also asked them to tell the police to stop blocking the roads,” Bobi Wine said.

He was updating the media on the outcomes of the closed-door 3-hour meeting between the EC and NUP after his campaigns were halted on Tuesday.

Bobi claims the EC boss has been silent on all the violence and left matters to the Police and military, disregarding its legal right to run the electoral process.

“We wanted to go on record, we came here because we want to follow the law and because we know that it is the Commission which is responsible for this election,” Bobi Wine said.

Bobi says he simply wanted to be on record for all the ongoing violence and carried evidence of photographs to that effect.

The photos displayed what went on in Kayunga and Jinja city, where his supporters were badly injured and how his car tires were deflated, in addition to blocked roads.

other still pictures showed incidents that happened in the previous meetings where teargas and live bullets erupted on his supporters.

He however says they will resume the meetings on Thursday in Namutumba.

”We will return to the campaign trail, we are actually setting off this evening, we will begin with Namutumba, for areas where we have not come we will ensure that we reschedule,” Bobi said

Bobi Wine carried with him dozens of still photos from the campaign which showed several of his supporters injured by bullets and teargas canisters.

the commission, not that he expected an immediate solution but to go on record on what had been going on.

Bobi suspended his campaigns on Wednesday after police foiled his second campaign meeting in Jinja and fired live bullets that burst his windscreen in addition to deflating his car tires.
