Grief and shock have swallowed up locals in Kyotera district after 3 members of the same family got electrocuted to death.
The trio died on Sunday evening at Kyapa-Kangabwa village in Sanje sub-county-Kyotera district.
They were trying to tap power from a high voltage line above their house for light.
The deceased who had made it a habit to steal power from the power line that was above their house failed to survive this time around.
Eyewitnesses claim it all started with one Lwanga who 1st climbed a jack-fruit tree to access the power-line but accidentally knocked a cloth wire, falling down.
Lwanga’s brother Kasozi touched the live wire that killed him on spot. Lwanga died trying to rescue Kasozi while their mother who also reached home at the time of the incident rushed to touch the 2 and was electrocuted as well.
Yoweri Lukyamuzi, the Officer in Charge of Mayanja police station, explains that the deceased were barefooted at the time of the incident. He says they took the bodies to Kakuuto Health Centre IV for a postmortem before they were handed over to their family for burial.
