Matia Kasaija has seen work cut out for him in his fight to retain his Buyanja County seat!
President Yoweri Museveni has written to Kasaija who is the minister of finance and economic development to go ahead to appoint Paul Kyalimpa in a letter exclusively seen by this website.
Kyalimpa who has now withdrawn from the race by writing to the Kibaale District electoral commission office, is the minister’s rival.
President Museveni wrote to Kasaija to ensure he appoints him if the recruitment process finds him fit.
Museveni wrote: “I refer to you to the conversation we had with you last Wednesday in Gulu to the above named person. This is to authorise you to go ahead with the recruitment process and have the candidate to appointed, if found suitable. The terms of service should be in accordance with the institution’s guidelines.”
Opeto James Aggrey, electoral commission chief in Kibaale has gone ahead to confirm Kasaija as the unopposed MP Buyanja.
I Opeto Aggrey James, being the returning officer for Kibaale Electorate District, in accordance with the Parliamentary Elections Act, section 19A 2005, as amended, hereby declare Hon. Matia Kasaija elected unopposed as we directly elected Member of Parliament Buyanja County in Kibaale Electoral District.”
