Police have thrown into custody a witch doctor into their custody for attempting to sell a firearm.

Abbas Dholimala, a renowned witch doctor in Bugiri district was picked up together with his brother-in-law, Hakim Magumba by police and operatives from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence-CMI.

He was trying to sell an AK-47 gun at Shillings 7 million with 28 rounds of live ammunition.

Magumba is said to have stolen the gun from Iganga Central Police Station on March 5th, 2020

. He reportedly passed on the gun to Dholimala who decided to keep it in his shrine Kagali village in Kapyanga Sub County as they hunt for a buyer at Shillings 10 million in vain.

In his statement, Dholimala accused Magumba of orchestrating the plan to sell the gun. “Magumba is the one who initiated this deal after telling me that, his counterparts in security had directed him to selloff this old gun on their behalf,” he said.

The Busoga East police spokesperson, James Mubi confirmed the incident saying the suspects are currently locked up at Bugiri central police station pending the conclusion of their investigations.
