It has been confirmed that the National Unity Platform Presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi will not be interacting with the Electoral Commission on Monday, despite a summon to meet in person.

Joel Ssenyonyi the party’s spokesperson says Bobi is already campaigning in Karamoja and coming back to Kampala will interfere with his campaign schedule, which has happened before.

Ssenyonyi says a team from the NUP has been organized to represent Kyagulanyi.

”yet we have lost time, but because we are law-abiding, we will honor the invitation and represent him”.Ssenyonyi noted

He indicates that they will also use the opportunity to inform the EC again of the grievances their candidate continues to face while campaigning.

He also wants the government to be held accountable for inadequately distributing face masks to the populous using tax payer’s money instead of presidential candidates.

Ssenyonyi says the reason NUP supporters show up without masks is that they haven’t received them from the government.

He adds that his candidate does not have the capacity to buy facemasks for all his supporters, besides it being the role of the government.

The Electoral Commission summoned  Bobi and FDC’s Patrick Amuriat Oboi for disregarding the COVID-19 election guidelines on not holding rallies with massive crowds.

The EC has restricted the numbers for meetings of aspiring candidates and supporters to not more than 200 people as a means of slowing the spread of coronavirus.
