The govt has already placed orders for 9 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

The prime minister of Uganda Ruhakana Rugunda says the vaccines will touch ground in March 2021, as a tentative date, he made the reveal in parliament on Friday.

Rugunda was responding to questions from MPs who wanted clarification on exactly when the vaccines arrive, the MPs were concerned about the increase in COVID-19 cases countrywide.

‘Madam Speaker, a number of countries are already applying for the COVID19 vaccine, I would like the prime minister to tell us the level of preparedness in the government.” Elijah Okupa the Kasilo MP inquired

Rugunda assured the house that the government has already secured the vaccines under the Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunization- GAVI.

He says the vaccines will arrive through a body called COVAX a company responsible for delivering these vaccines to developing countries.

Uganda has 29,361 cases of COVID 19 and 288 deaths.
