National Unity Platform-NUP presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyiaka Bobi Wine has broken the silence on why he has temporarily shifted his kids to the USA.

Bobi wine sent his 4 kids abroad on Wednesday, attracting massive debate on social media on why he took such an exaggerated step just days to the general polls on Thursday next week.

Bobi’s response is, he did it for safety reasons after receiving concrete info that his kids were a target by the government.

“I received intelligence information on how some elements within the government had planned to kidnap my children and force me to sign political agreements against my will, therefore our friends in the Diaspora resolved to stay with the children for the meantime,” Bobi explained.

While speaking on an FM radio in Busoga on Thursday, Bobi says his family members have been witch-hunted for close to3 years now but the threats have only worsened in the past 2 months.

“During our attempt to block article 102(b) of the constitution, grenades were hurled at my elder son’s bedroom and since then, the threats have intensified prompting to temporarily move them to a safer place; I and my wife resolved to stay back and continue agitating for the peace and freedoms within our country,” he says.

He says the threats got as visible with unknown cars trailing his family.

“The tension has been too much with several cars trailing us around, I tried relocating them to other areas but the trailing continued to date,” he added.

It is not clear exactly how long the kids will remain in the USA.
