The statehouse in Kenya was compelled to pull down a Facebook post applauding Uganda’s president-elect, the incumbent President Yoweri Museveni after it was flagged as false by the tech giant.

In the post shared on both Facebook and Twitter, Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta recognized Sevo’s big win as a confidence vote from Ugandans in his leadership.

However, it attracted a largely negative reaction from a section of Kenyans who described the congratulations as a bad sign for their own happening in 2022.

Shortly after that, Facebook flagged the same message as “false information” compelling the State House to pull down the post.

The message was however not flagged on Twitter.

On Saturday, the Electoral Commission -EC announced president Museveni as the winner of the elections by a 58.6 percent margin ahead of his main contender Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi wine who came in second place with  34.8 percent.

This is the second time President Kenyatta has been criticized for congratulating President Museveni upon an electoral victory, the first was in the 2016 polls.
