Lovis Abeireho, a local of Nyakatare cell in Western ward in Kanungu town council, poured on himself petrol before setting himself on fire at about 6 am in the morning.
Lovis had a deep heated fight with his bae the previous night and was thrown out of the house by his fuming wife after he reportedly chewed another woman’s beans.
After spending a cold long night outside the house and failing to convince his bae to let him in, Lovis decided to buy petrol from JAPS pump fuel station, which he used to burn himself near his home opposite the centenary bank in Kanungu town.
Locals at the scene tried to stop the fire right after Lovis sustained severe burns on the head and upper abdomen.
He was rushed to Kanungu Health Center IV, where he kept professing death on the hospital bed.
“I wanted to die, how can I fail to die, I can’t stay alive. This life is not worth…,” he said
Later, after his condition worsened they referred him to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital where he was pronounced upon arrival.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson says investigations to ascertain why the newly recruited Police constable committed suicide is ongoing, he has condemned the incident.
Maate says all married couples that get misunderstandings but should learn to address their problems through the authorities
