Jejje Odongo Releases List Of Missing Persons

The minister for internal affairs Jejje Odongo has finally given in to demands and released the most wanted list of missing persons.

This follows a sluggish response by the Minister following an order by the speaker of parliament to release the list by Thursday Last week.

The list contains the names of  177 people, where they were picked up from and currently detained.

Gen. Jeje Odongo

”Today om presenting to you o list of 177 (one hundred and seventy-seven) names clearly identifying the person, the date when the person was arrested, the place where the person was arrested from, the reason why the person was arrested, and the case management history,” Odongo said

Odongo explains that  43 of these people were arrested for participating in the riots,156 were found in possession of military stores and  arrested from
meetings planning post-election violence while only 6 persons were released on police bond.

”The public is encouraged to check at the CPC police headquarters for their missing persons to get permission to visit them,” he adds

Last month, President Museveni while addressing the nation trashed reports that there were people missing saying security organs had detained 200 people instead.

“There were people who were arrested by CMI. They were in 2 categories which involved 177 who were granted bail or released. Another are 65 still being investigated. Their names should be made public so that this talk of disappearance is answered,” he said.

MPs and the general public, including relatives to missing persons, have continuously pinned security organs to produce a report of the identities of the missing persons and have them tried in courts of law.
