Uhuru Declares 7 Days Of Mourning For Magufuuli
Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta has declared that flags be flown at half-mast for the next 7 days to mourn the late president of Tanzania, John Pombe Magufuli,61.
Kenyatta who honored Magufuli as a visionary friend and pan-Africanist says both the East African Community -EAC and national flags in Kenya and at missions abroad be placed at half-mast in his honor.
The chair person of the EAC said Magufuli leaves behind a strong legacy to reckon with.
The news of his passing was announced on Wednesday evening by the vice president Samia Suhulu Hassan.
Hassan dashed Covid-19 rumors under the carpet saying the now deceased president succumbed to heart complications at a hospital in Dar es salam.

Tanzania has meanwhile announced 14 days of national mourning where flags must fly at half mast.
According to Tanzania’s constitution, Hassan will be sworn in as the new president and should serve the remaining terms of Magufuli’s five-year team which he began last year.
She becomes the first woman president in East Africa.
2 presidents in the region have died during covid19 era including Pierre Nkuruzinza of Burundi who succumbed to COVID-19.
