Following a court petition by Serwadda Sulaiman Kidandala who is challenging the academic credentials of Ssegirinya Muhammad (formerly called Ssegirinya Richard), the newly elected Member of Parliament for Kawempe North, the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has revealed that the yet to be sworn in MP’s academic documents are not in his names.
According to a letter issued by Mr. Peter Anywar, the UNEB Executive Secretary, the UNEB candidate numbers on Ssegirinya’s O level and A level belong to other people.
“Candidate U0053/054 (2007 is Nampiima Sarah who sat at Mengo Secondary School not Ssegirinya Richard sitting at Pimba’s Secondary School,” part of the letter reads.
“Candidate U0053/754 (2009) is Nabadda Maureen who sat at Mengo Secondary School not Ssegirinya Richard sitting at Pimbas Secondary School,” the letter reads further.
Anywar further indicated that both serial numbers on Ssegirinya’s academic certificates are fake, therefore the documents were not issued by the board.
The next step will be revealed after court’s ruling to see whether “Mr. Updates” will go to parliament or he’ll remain on the streets of Kawempe.
Below are the documents;
In the January parliamentary elections Muhammad Ssegirinya won the Kawempe North MP Seat with over 50,000 votes beating off competition from incumbent Hon. Latif Sebagala and Sulaiman Kidadanda to represent the people of Kawempe in the 11th parliament.
Segirinya held the National Unity Platform’s -NUP flag which undoubtedly helped him claim a massive victory over his competitor. But with this new development, his dreams of stepping into parliament hangs by a thread. Not even NUP darling Bobi Wine can save him but Only God!
We shall keep you posted.
