Record TV might just close shop if at all every rumor coming out of the Kamokya based station is anything to go by.

Rumors making rounds on the grapevine indicate that Kamokya based TV station Record Television is on the verge of closing shop.

An insider who never wanted to be known by the public leaked the information online and from the report it is alleged that long serving TV station is struggling not only financially but from an apparent lack of public viewership.

The same source goes on to allege how all the employees both at senior and management level have been informed about the drastic decision that intends to put all the station’s operation on halt by 31st of March.

”Record TV to close by 31st March. All employees have been asked to resign before then” a source is quoted alleging the closure of Record TV.

A simple google search reveals how Record TV has been in operation since January 29th 2006 and during that period the station managed to churn out some of Uganda’s best TV personalities.

Celebrated media personalities like Douglas Lwanga, Andrew Kyamagero and Luze Anderson have all traded their skills with the Kamokya based TV station.

It is alleged that in September 2020 caption Mike Mukula bought majority of the shares in Record TV. That automatically meant that he had a higher controlling stake in the struggling TV station. Mukula kicked off his tenure by hiring Smart24TV CEO Jackie Arinda to take on the position of  Director of Business and Strategy Development at his new bought station.

However as fate would have it , caption Mike Mukula later sold his majority share holdings to another person (Names withheld) as the TV business he had involved himself in wasn’t moving in the direction he had anticipated.
