Museveni Expels Allegations
President Yoweri Museveni has distanced himself from a decision to pit Kamuli Woman Legislator Hon Rebbeca Kadaga in the race for Speaker of the 11th Parliament.
The NRM has been accused by theoretical persons on social media of using and dumping Kadaga since her big loss on Monday.
Museveni says he neither endorsed Kadaga nor Oulanyah but instead waited for the National Resistance Movement-NRM’s top organ, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) to make a decision.
CEC endorsed Hon Jacob Oulanyah as NRM flag bearer for the position of the Speaker of 11th Parliament at State House Entebbe on Sunday, May 23, 2021.
However, Kadaga who defied a CEC decision throwing her out, polled only 197 votes against her main opponent Oulanyah Jacob who emerged winner with 310 votes.
Kadaga was left in tears on Monday after she flopped in her en-devours to secure the speaker seat for another 5 years leading up to 15 years in that spot.
Museveni says there was a rift in the party that led Mp’s to form camps for Oulanyah and Kadaga and this needed intervention.

“I never take sides among my juniors because they are all my people. Don’t take sides. Wait for the official forum to take a decision, and then you will back the decision of the forum, So, I want to thank the people who were supporting Kadaga, and shifted and supported the official candidate (Oulanyah). There was a very strong Oulanyah faction, and a very strong Kadaga faction.” he said.
He explained that divisions were also strong among those supporting Among Anite and Thomas Tayebwa who were both seeking Deputy speaker position as well.
