LOP Mpuuga Blasts FDC
Fresh Leader of Opposition-LOP in Parliament, Hon. Mathias Mpuuga has blasted the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC for casting their big flop in the just concluded speakership race on the National Unity platform-NUP.
During elections for speaker and Deputy last week on Monday FDC candidates Kiira Municipality MP Semmujju Nganda nominated for Speaker and Nsibambi Yusuf Nsibambi for deputy, both failed miserably with 15 and 35 votes respectfully.
Ssemujju has since gone on every platform blaming his very miserable flop on the NUP leadership for quietly rallying its MP’s to vote for the former speaker Rebbeca Kadaga instead of him .
However, Mpuuga has busted Semujju and FDC saying their claims are baseless and unfounded.
LOP Mpuuga Blasts FDC
Mpuuga says the FDC party is being dishonest in claiming the reason for their heavy flop in the speakership polls lies on the NUP refusing to vote for their candidates.
‘‘I have never been part of any platform that ordered members to vote a particular candidate for speaker. We had a liberal discussion about the possibilities, it didn’t make sense for us to order our members to vote for anyone.Mpuuga noted
He adds that the FDC should stop riding on propaganda to slam their party.
“FDC knows what happened and they are trying to go for the soft target which is NUP because I am sure they didn’t even get “their own votes”. They are trading intellectual dishonesty,” says Mpuuga.
Mpuuga says its high time that the FDC buries the hatchet and moves on to more relevant business.
“As NUP, we aren’t looking for Patrons; we are looking for people who want to work with us. As long as the Opposition is united, then I am confident that we can challenge this regime daunting around as a political party,” he says.
