Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi has urged Ugandans to desist from misusing social media platforms by spreading baseless propaganda .
Kabaka Muwenda made the call on Zoom technology while addressing at the opening of a conference titled Buganda Bumu North American Convention (BBNAC).
The Kabaka whose voice sounded a lot more energetic confronted the social media habit that he said has promoted hate speech and tarnished the kingdom’s image.
”These platforms are very crucial but we have to be very careful. If we use them well, we can use it to promote development but if we misuse these social media platforms, they can be disastrous to us,” he warned.
He urged Ugandans abroad social media is a platform that the majority of people considered to be enemies of Buganda are using social media to attack the Kingdom and create hate.
“Let’s not give them [enemies] gaps because there are some people among us especially the Baganda who are being used to spread this wrong information triggered by our enemies,” he noted.
He further advised his subjects to use social media platforms to promote development in favour of the kingdom.
The kabaka applauded the people in the diaspora for loving the country warning them to be very careful about the kind of information they consume on social media.
