Vipers Eliminate Villa

Bobosi’s goal came in the 28th minute from the free-kick while Karisa came from the bench to net the second in the 76th minute.

Villa had the first attempt at goal after 10 minutes through Sadam Masereka but the attacker head wide off a Nicholas Kabonge’s cross.

Vipers then fashioned their first attempt at goal in 19th minutes but Bobosi Byaruhanga sent his effort from the outside the box agonizingly off target.

But their second attempt at goal resulted in goal in the 28th minute after Bobosi free-kick from the left wing found its way into the back of the net, beating off the Villa goalkeeper Martin Ssenkooto.

Just before the break, the Venoms were denied a second by Joseph Nsubuga who made a late clearance at the goal line to deny Cesar Manzoki’s effort from the finding the back of the net after Ssenkooto parried away Yunus Sentamu’s initial strike into the Congolese path.

At the start of the second half, Villa head coach Edward Kaziba made two changes, bringing on Mohammad Ssenoga and Muhammad Nsereko with hope that the pair could help his side generate an equalizer, but instead disaster hit them instead as Ronald Ssekiganda was sent off for a second bookable offense at the hour-mark after foul on Karim Watambala.

With Villa playing with 10 men, they came close to getting level but Ssekagya one again made a brilliant save, parrying away Derrick Ndahiro excellent free-kick above the crossbar.

In the 70th minute, Vipers interim head coach Paul Kiwanuka made a double substitution, introducing on Richard Basagwa and Milton Karisa for Yunus Sentamu and Karim Watambala respectively and the introduced on pair combined for the second goal of the game after Basangwa made a charging run off the flank to lay the ball into the path of Karisa who struck the ball with venom onto the post and over the line to double Viper’s lead.

With 90 minutes played, four minutes were added by the Center referee Ronald Mandada and at the end of those four, he blew the full whistle of the game.

The Venoms advance to the semi-finals 3-1 on aggregate and join BUL FC, who defeated Proline 2-1 on aggregate.
