Nabbanja Assures Haters
The new Prime minister of Uganda Hon Robinah Nabbanja has vowed to work tooth and nail to ensure her critics are brought to shame.
Nabbanja who has officially taken office today at the Office of the Prime Minister-OPM says she will use her experience from all levels she has served under the government to work magic in her term.
She said this during her speech after her predecesor Dr Ruhakana Rugunda handed over office to her.
”I want to conclude by thanking the President for the opportunity he has given me. Some people were calling me a villager, we have to work and prove them wrong, I promise.”Nabbanja stressed.
She assured Ugandans that women like her and former journalist and Karamoja affairs state minister Agnes Nandutu will work without reservation to prove haters wrong.
Nabbanja says her role is to bring to life the targets that President Museveni wants in his new cabinet like a united, devoid of corruption, patriotic and a cabinet forced on service delivery.
‘‘We shall ensure that government business in Parliament is brought in a timely manner to avoid delays. Together with the Government Chief Whip, we shall ensure that ministers attend Parliamentary sessions.”said Nabbanja
The prime minister also stressed the need for team work and coordination to ensure that work is done effectively
”To be able to achieve the above, we have to get effectively coordinated now. Without coordination, we shall waste time and money. We have to work as a team.”We shall regularly inform the country about what the government is doing. she stated.
She also hailed the president for choosing a cabinet led and surounded by women .
”We are 37 women ministers, 45% of the total cabinet. It has never happened. As women in leadership, we have to deliver.”she said

Rugunda joined the cabinet in 1986 and was dropped in 2021. He was named to the post of Envoy For Special Duties In The Office Of The President of Uganda.
He held a long series of cabinet posts under President Yoweri Museveni beginning in 1986.

He served as Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1994 to 1996 and as Minister of Internal Affairs from 2003 to 2009.
Subsequently, he was Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 2009 to 2011 and Minister of Health from 2013 to 2014.
He was appointed as Prime Minister on 18 September 2014 to 14 June 2021. He replaced Amama Mbabazi, who was dropped from the Cabinet.
Robinah Nabbanja is the first female prime minister of Uganda.[2]
Previously, she served as State Minister of Health for General Duties in the Ugandan cabinet, between 14 December 2019until 3 May 2021.
She concurrently serves as MP for Kakumiro District Women Constituency in the 11th Parliament (2021–2026), a role she also carried in the 10th Parliament (2016–2021).
Her first assignment is dealing with the covid 19 virus during a lockckdown.
